Summary:
Provides general patient care and basic patient education.
Performs duties which indirectly support patient care such as scheduling, recordkeeping, and maintaining supplies inventories.
RequirementsMINIMUM
Qualifications:
LPN, CMA, CNA, MA:
Graduate of an accredited LPN, Medical Assistant program.
State of Idaho license in good standing or current CMA certification.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Starting pay of $15.
50 DOE.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
oKnowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
oKnowledge of clinical and/or surgical operations and documentation.
oSkill in performing clinical and medical procedures.
oKnowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
oAbility to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients.
oAbility to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
oAbility to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
oKnowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
oKnowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids.
oAbility to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.
oKnowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
oAbility to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols.
oAbility to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1.
Schedules and coordinates paperwork for patient/doctor appointments and surgeries.
2.
Assists doctors, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, and registered nurses with examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures.
3.
Performs patient triage.
4.
Enters nursing charges into billing database.
5.
Reviews patient charts, checks patients in, obtains and records patients' weight, blood pressure, urine samples, blood samples, and medical history, and assesses reasons for patient visits.
6.
Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patients' conditions.
7.
Administers medications; applies sterile dressings.
8.
Participates in in-service education programs as required by agency.
9.
Maintains records for immunizations and other abnormal lab results as required.
10.
Maintains and stocks inventory of office and/or clinical supplies, as appropriate to the position.
11.
Educates patients regarding health-related issues.
12.
Coordinates labeling, delivery, and receipt of laboratory specimens and results; provides information and coordinates follow-up visits regarding laboratory results.
13.
Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
14.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

PROCEDURE COMPLIANCE:
Employee must read and understand the general and specific operational, safety, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to this job.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/clinic work environment.
Moderate physical activity required.
Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Must be able to lift or move patients of various weights.
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
